Every volume and difficulty figure below came from a live Ahrefs call made during this research. Endpoints used: keywords-explorer-overview and keywords-explorer-matching-terms. The clustering, the priority order and the exclusions are my judgement, not Ahrefs data, and are labelled where they appear.

The finding that changes the plan

The July audit (seo-audit-2026-07-24.md) named the wholesale program targeting Sydney cafés as "the largest untapped position on the site." The search data does not support that framing:

KeywordVolumeKD
wholesale coffee sydney10–
coffee wholesale sydney056

Almost nobody searches that phrase. The audit's commercial instinct may still be right - wholesale is a high-value B2B line - but it cannot be won through search on a city-qualified term, because the demand is not there.

Where the wholesale demand actually sits is the unqualified terms, and they are winnable:

KeywordVolumeKD
wholesale coffee beans4001
coffee beans wholesale suppliers4003
wholesale coffee3007
wholesale coffee suppliers2507
wholesale coffee beans australia1500

That is a real opportunity, just not a Sydney-shaped one.

The bigger opportunity is elsewhere entirely. best coffee beans and cold brew coffee carry several times the wholesale volume at the same or lower difficulty.

Clusters

C1 - Best coffee beans · informational

Pillar: best coffee beans - 1,900/mo, KD 1

SpokeVolumeKD
best coffee beans for espresso1,3005
best coffee beans australia1,2000
best coffee beans sydney4503
best coffee beans brisbane3500
best coffee beans for cappuccino1500
best decaf coffee beans1500

Judgement: this is the strongest cluster on the site's whole opportunity map - high volume at near-zero difficulty, and a city series (sydney, brisbane, adelaide) all at KD 0–3. It is also the one that most directly feeds product pages, because someone searching "best coffee beans" is shopping.

C2 - Cold brew · informational

Pillar: cold brew coffee - 2,400/mo, KD 0

SpokeVolumeKD
how to make cold brew coffee45012
what is cold brew coffee25012
cold brew coffee ratio904
cold brew coffee beans901

Judgement: highest single volume found, at KD 0, and Paradox already sells a cold brew concentrate - so the informational content has somewhere to send people.

Set aside for now: cold brew coffee maker (2,200/mo, KD 1) and cold brew coffee machine (200/mo, KD 1). They were left out on the belief that Paradox does not sell equipment, which was wrong: the shop sells the Toddy Domestic Cold Brew Coffee Maker and the Hario Cold Brew Pot. Both are large and easy, and should be weighed properly in the next research refresh (see the content plan).

C3 - Coffee subscription · commercial

Pillar: coffee subscription - 1,500/mo, KD 7

SpokeVolumeKD
coffee bean subscription4507
coffee subscription melbourne2509
coffee beans subscription2001
best coffee subscription australia1506
specialty coffee subscription1503

Judgement: they already run subscriptions at a 10% discount, so this cluster maps to an existing revenue line rather than proposing a new one. Commercial intent, so it belongs on a page, not a post.

Set aside for now: coffee pod subscription australia (200/mo, KD 1). It was left out for lack of evidence that Paradox sells pods, but the shop has a coffee capsules and pods collection and its subscriptions include capsules. To be weighed in the next research refresh.

C4 - Wholesale coffee · commercial (B2B)

Pillar: wholesale coffee beans - 400/mo, KD 1

SpokeVolumeKD
coffee beans wholesale suppliers4003
wholesale coffee3007
wholesale coffee suppliers2507
wholesale roasted coffee beans2002
wholesale coffee beans australia1500

Judgement: lower volume than the others, but the highest value per visitor - a wholesale account is worth many retail orders. Worth doing despite the numbers being smaller.

Head terms checked and set aside

KeywordVolumeKDWhy not
specialty coffee70048Parent topic resolves to a competitor brand (five senses coffee). Hard, and the term is brand-dominated
coffee roasters sydney40057KD 57 on a local-pack term. Needs Google Business Profile work, not content
coffee beans online45036Winnable later; harder than everything in C1 for the same intent

Priority order - my judgement, not data

  1. C1 best coffee beans - biggest winnable volume, shortest path to product pages
  2. C2 cold brew - highest single term at KD 0, maps to an existing product
  3. C3 subscription - commercial intent against an existing revenue line
  4. C4 wholesale - smallest volume, highest value per conversion

The audit's own diagnosis was that the site "only ranks for its own name." All four clusters are unbranded, which is the point.

Caveats

  • Volume and KD are Ahrefs estimates, not measured traffic. When this research was done there was no Search Console data to check them against. Paradox's Search Console and Google Analytics have been connected since 29 September 2026, and the monthly report now measures real clicks.
  • KD is a link-difficulty estimate. A KD 0 term is not automatically winnable - it means the top 10 have few referring domains, not that the content bar is low.
  • Figures are a 12-month average as at 2026-08-26.
